WCC: B.'s Day 5

TGI weekend, you guys. Between blogging every day and all the kitty drama, I have so much work to catch up on it's not even funny. I'm hoping to squeeze in a visit to the Apple Harvest Day downtown tomorrow though. I love small town festivals. Petting zoo! Local music! Probably...lots and lots of apples! I am psyched.

On this, the last day of the WCC, I will be studying all day at a friend's house, and want to be super comfy. Purple cardigan to the rescue!

Too cold for the flats, and the jeans over pants thing looked way too equestrian for me this morning. I want to give it a try sometime in the future, especially after seeing how much C. rocked hers. But for today, I'll settle for a little bit cowboy.

Day 5: purple cardigan + mustard top + jeans + boots

WCC: E's Fourth Day

So being a completely lazy bum, I didn't take pictures today until I shanghai'ed B to do it at 11pm. Hence the baggy eyes. You can see my fancy purple leopard print socks if you look really closely, haha. I like the shape of this top, since I see a ton of undergrads around campus wearing checked tops, but this one actually leaves me feeling not like I'm 16 :). I felt pretty good about this outfit all day, even though I look pretty tired in the photos :).
Day 4: Jeans, Black shoes, black and green checked top
Jeans: remixed, Lane Bryant
Black and Green Checked Top: Forever 21
Black shoes: remixed, Payless

WCC: B.'s Day 4

In class, one of my students gave a presentation on her home country of Suriname (northern South America, next to Guyana). In a country of 500,000 people, there are more than twenty langauges and a dozen religions. And they all get along. How cool is that?

It was seriously chilly today, and I was really wishing for tights! I also felt a lot more self-conscious about the shortness of the skirt, and I think tights would have solved that as well. Otherwise, I felt pretty good about this combo.

Day 4: purple cardigan + white button down + black dress + black belt + boots + purple/gold earrings.

WCC: C's Fourth Day

This is half of Monday's outfit and half of Tuesday's outfit, combined:

Please excuse my awkward pose. My dad was taking the picture and I felt kind of weird (normally I just prop the camera up on a table outside and hit the self-timer). So, in an effort to get him out of my hair as quickly as possible, I just had him take a single shot.

...Then I realized I really wanted a different shot--preferably with a less weird...everything. So, this happened:

Fail. My eyes might be shut? My head is at a weird angle?

Whatevs. Believe me when I say: I really like this outfit! Originally I had the scarf tied in my hair, but the scarf if just SO BIG that it was really too fat for headscarfing. Also, I looked like a Halloween costume gypsy (which is fine and all, I actually kind of liked it, but eh). Also, I took the lazy man's way out and just put the long sleeved tee OVER the dress instead of under it. I wasn't going to go with the long sleeves today, but it is pretty cold out for just short sleeves.

And there you have it. Maybe I will impress the people at David's Bridal today (not for me! I am going with a friend) with my insane sense of style and my two-tone browns! Actually, I did apply for a job there, and on Friday I go to fill out my papers. I am officially going to help people pick out their wedding dresses! I'm not going to lie: it's exciting. :)

WCC: E's Third Day

Aaannnd.. Sometimes you don't. So, the idea for today was, "on the run, no fuss, fast easy, matches accessories," (Again, with the matchy-matchy, I know). I wore this outfit for the entire day, and looking at the pictures now, I'm kind of embarrassed. The pants are actually fine, particularly when not performing amazing feats of slanted balancing (B is definitely superior in her slanty balancing skills), but the sweater on the other hand, is just not making me very happy. The shape is off, and the high beams are dazzling, and apparently shiny, which is just absurd, particularly as I taught a class today. Also, the material of the sweater, which though it feels good and breathes nicely, also clings in sadistic ways. Ah well, win some lose some. It's a shame too, since I was totally seduced by that neck line in the first place.
Hopefully tomorrow will paint a less lumpy picture.

Day 3: Purple sweater, black pants, pendant, purple shoes, black hoop earrings

Caption: Me, pleading with the heavens for a less lumpy sweater.

Pants: New York and Company
Shoes: Jessica Simpson via TJMaxx
Pendant: chain gift from grandpa, pendant from TJMaxx
Black Hoop Earrings: gifted

WCC: B.'s Day 3

In addition to my English class, I also teach swing dancing on campus, once a week on Wednesdays. I like to wear a full skirt for swing (maximum twirl-ocity!) so I included one in my capsule wardrobe. My dance clothes need to be lightweight, since the dance studio can get pretty sticky, so this summery wrap skirt and the short-sleeved white button-down from Monday work well. With a cardigan and a scarf-belt I felt more seasonally-appropriate, and respectable enough to chat with some fairly important profs at a faculty/student mixer today.

This is me contemplating my shoes:

And this is me being...some kind of crazy unbalanced ballerina person.

Swan Lake, here I come.

Day 3: blue cardigan + white button down + blue striped skirt + red shoes + teal scarf + blue and silver earrings.

WCC: C's Third Day

I decided to go simple today, though I must admit that this is probably one of the last weeks I'll be able to wear sandals until next year. My tootsies were a little chilly!

My one fear is that the whole thing is too cropped; I almost feel like I should do either long pants and 3/4 sleeves, or short pants and long sleeves (or no sleeves...). But I don't really mind it. This is an outfit I've worn before, and will probably wear again. I love this sweater! I think the color is different, and the giant buttons on the neck sing "Jackie O!" to me. I'm excited about the pants because I couldn't fit into them three months ago, and now I can! So, that's good news.

Also, I like that this is just relaxed, without a lot of things layered. I think layering looks incredible, but at some point during the day I get a little uncomfortable with all the clothes that are on me, and start wishing some of them would just go away (especially scarves...I know I love them, but I'm always dropping bits of crumbly food in them, or accidentally brushing them up against things when I lean over).

Long story short: comfy, familiar, and I just like it.

what it is: green sweater, brown cropped pants, sandals, bracelet, ring
